Which would be disappointing, except that I also biked 12 miles or so today. So between the biking and the walking, I burned 1,027 calories.

I’d like to add an addendum— first you need to get into the habit of eating an appropriate amount. If you’re used to overeating, then that’s what your body will want you to continue. After a few weeks of paying attention and not going over the standard 2k calories a day, that’s what you’ll get used to, and you won’t need to worry about agonizing over calories anymore.
It calculates the calories you should be taking to get to your desired weight, and adds to consideration the amount of physical exercise you’re doing.
